An early Randall Kaufmann high country stillwater pattern. Tail can also be tied with marabou (barred makes a neat effect) or aftershaft feathers.

hook - Dai Riki 060 #12
thread - MFC 8/0 sand
rib - small copper wire
tail - moose body hair
abdomen - muskrat/Zelon dubbing hydropsyche
hackle - hen brown
wings - hen grizzly tips

mash barb, tie in rib, wrap to bend

clean, stack, measure (gap width past bend) a few moose body hairs; tie in/trim

dub thread/dub tapered body to 1 eye width back from eye

counterwrap rib; helicopter end, cover with thread

tie in (folded) hackle by tip

wrap hackle, tie off/trim; stroke fibers back/down, cover with thread

prep wings (convex-to-convex)

measure (3/4 shank) for length; tie in

trim butts, half hitch x 2, SHHAN, head for where the air is thin

Regards,
Scott
