Help needed on the Yakima

Paul Huffman

Driven by irrational exuberance.
In spite of all the glowing reports on the Yakima lately, I've been having no success this week. I went below Roza last night and didn't realize the flows had gone so high because my internet connection had been down. Normally I do well on days with a little wind to knock a few bugs down into the water, but last night's wind was annoying. The poison ivy is growing taller. The trout just laughed off any hoppers. My favorite stone dry provoked a couple flashes under it, but no takes. A big sucker jumped half out of the water to try to drowned
it. I swung some little green caddis nymphs and some yellowish soft hackles and caught a real nice redshide shiner. No interest in the PED patterns. Almost stepped on a rattler. What am I doing wrong?
