Army training in Augusta Georgia

#1
Been out a few times since landing 01 October. Tons of snakes, on land and in the water. So far I have fished a pond on post, the Savana Rapids on the Georgia side, the Saluda River SC, and the Broad River SC. Here are a few pics of my adventures so far...

If you have a long weekend, depending on what sort of gear you brought, maybe try heading to the coast and fishing the intercostal or head West to the Mountains around Dahlonega and try for trout.

Nice work!!

As stated, thanks for your service. Some great pictures. Do they really need the warning about alligators?
I am thinking I would give them a WIDE berth. :)

Thanks for sharing James. I'm not sure giving them a wide berth means much. If I arrived with my pontoon or Fat Cat, and saw that warning, my wide berth would be back in the truck. "Do not approach, feed, or harass alligators"... really?

Wow, Bowfin on a fly rod. How was that fight?? We used to call them”mudfish” when I was growing up in FL. They would bend your hooks and break your rod if you weren’t careful. Cool to see somebody catch one on the fly!

It was great fight!! I was pretty cool the way I saw it come up to the service to what I assume was to gulp air which gave away the fishes position. At first I thought it was snakehead gulping air. I have never seen this type of fish so I had to take a photo and ask people what it was, again because I thought it was a snakehead.

The local fly shop was pretty surprised that it hit a top water popper. Guy said he would have never guessed I didn't drag it out of the mud....
