Early 30's Pflueger GEM w/ telephone latch

Got lucky and found a cool old Plueger GEM fly reel. It has a telephone latch which dates it to the first two years' production in the early 1930's. It was probably considered a blue collar back in its day, but the drag is smooth, the brass pieces shine and the knob is beautiful. Darn thing is RHW...I know I know, gotta' learn to reel that way which I haven't done since I was a kid fishing old Penn level winds in the salt. Still love it.

That is a cool old reel. Looks like the features predate the classic features like the round line guard and the sculpted pillars.

Good point. I see pfleuger and think medalist. Anyway, cool reel.
