Soft hackles are new to me but was thinking of tying them on a salt water hook as I could see myself using them for SRC.

The modified reverse spiders I'm tying are on saltwater hooks. I bought size 10s, so they'll be small enough for streams, but they'll definitely work in the Sound, too.

Once you go soft hackle, you don't go back. I discovered them about two years ago and use them more than anything else. Weighted ones work as nymphs, unweighted ones can be greased and used as dries, and all of them work like mini streamers. And of course they can't be beat on the swing.

I'm an automatic bobbin guy but when I go standards I have fallen in love with loons bobbin. It's Stout and heavy. Holds good tension and fits nicely in the hand.
