Yep that's pretty typical. The fish no doubt acted out of aggression, and once it got close, likely steered away due to the gaudy and unnatural appearance of the fly. It was actually a Chartreuse/White craft fur Dali Llama that I was tossing in the salt for Blackmouth earlier- a fairly atypical stillwater pattern. I was using a full intermediate and a fast retrieve.
