Steelhead is a much tougher game because their abundance is quite low now a days.
SRC is a slam dunk and one of the easiest fisheries in western Washington. Especially, if you have a boat. Occasionally, SRC can be finicky in areas that receive some fishing pressure but that is by far the exception to the rule.
catching steelhead is all about selecting the 'correct' flows to be fishing. once you learn where steelhead are likely to lie, your chances go way up, no problem. fishing from the bank for SRCs is very difficult as these fish are not stationary. a small floating device would most likely make this fishery much easier. so i vote for SRCs being more difficult.
