Nice to see this classic old BC pattern get the recognition it deserves! The Nicomekl River flows into Mud Bay just north of the Canada/US border. It used to have a thriving cutthroat and coho population that number 7500 in 1964 as well as a few steelhead. It was such a popular fishery in the early part of the last century that the local interurban transit authority used to run a weekend fisherman's excursion to its shores. A local enhancement society is working to protect what remains. Urbanization has had dire consequences for the Nicomekl.
