Well I found a few ponds that were ice free. Its a bit strange posting this in the "warm water section" since the water was about 35 or 36 degrees but there were fish there and they were hungry. I fished this bay last year and caught some golden bones in it and they were there yesterday just like they always are. Fish were cruising around, schooled up. It was really cool to see them charging out of the weeds towards open water. Their violent boils get my heart going. It was sunny and in the high 60's, quite a change from the 18 inches of snow we got 10 days ago. I had a friend with me who is new to fly fishing so I was showing him the ropes (casting, tying knots, wading quietly, etc). He hooked a fish and that was pretty awesome to see. All in all, it was a great day. It was so nice to be out. Not fishing for 5 months while everything was frozen was really getting to me. Hooked 3 fish. Got one to the beach.
