The Tug Is The Drug
Anyone see these yet, a coworker bought on and was telling me about it. 83x zoom=2000mm, farking crazy would be great to take to Yellowstone national park. Total game changer for under $600

My wife bought me one for Xmas. The camera really rocks with the zoom, but serves a pretty specific purpose. A tripod is needed obviously when all the way out or photo can be blurry. We did some birdwatching in Florida in March and here are some photos:

Here are some samples:

It does help to have the right lighting and I am finding it does have some limitations ( as in low light, at full zoom, a tripod is most definitely needed do to depth of field, but it takes incredible pictures!

What is the largest aperture available at full zoom (2000mm)? What is the iso range?

Frankly, I think I like the p900 better. There are a couple of neat things on the p1000, but they wouldn't outweigh the size increase and the cost difference--at least for me. But the take a look at the links.

Think I'll grab a 900, I wonder if they'll go on sale soon?
I doubt it, and doubt it would be much of a discount if so. Because there's already a noticable difference between them as products and in pricing, I'm going to guess that Nikon will be content to leave them on the shelves next to each other, even if one is a more or less a "replacement" for the other.
