Remote shooting

I've played around with remote shooting. I use my iPhone app to run my Canon 5D Mark IV. The one disadvantage is it runs down the cell phone battery quickly.

I use a small battery operated remote trigger, RFN4 I think is the name. It is only a shutter trigger with no camera control. Maybe a few hundred feet range. I use it mostly to reduce any camera shake due to hand holding. I also use a CAM Ranger which gives me complete camera control with ttl viewing using a cellphone or tablet but it is overkill for most and would do nothing to reduce battery usage on a cellphone.
