SBS Green Peter Muddler (Carnage variation)

Had to dig a bit to find hen pheasant wing long enough for this one; a #12 would have been much easier. Tried Uni thread cuz that's what Mr. Mcphail uses; popped it twice on the head and I wasn't pulling all that hard, so it's back to MFC or Danville for little muddlers.

hook - Dai Riki 135 #10
thread - Uni 8/0 tan
core - 8lb Mason
rib - small wire gold
body - 1mm foam olive
hackle - brown (undersize by 1)
wing - hen pheasant wing
head/collar - mule deer hair

put a loop in mono, tie in; create thread bump at eye

mash barb, start thread; tie in mono/wire

hook loop onto gallows; tie in foam strip

spiral wire up the mono

brush mono with Super Glue, wrap foam up the core

brush on a little more Super Glue then wrap back down; tie off/trim

tie in hackle; palmer body to the tail

capture tip with wire, continue rib thru hackle; helicopter end/cover with thread, trim mono

prep wing quill segments

measure (tips to tail), fold, tie in/trim butts

clean, stack, measure (tips just past hook bend) a clump of deer hair (apologies for the messier than normal nails; painting switchplates)

2 soft loops, trim butts to length (use hook eye to gauge), spin

half hitch x 2, SHHAN, trim head

Regards,
Scott

I like it Scott, I don't know where all these patterns come from but you must devote a lot of time finding, tying and photographing your great SBS's, good thing for us cause you come up with some killer ties, thanks !
