I know it's late notice but my fishing partner canceled on me and wondering if anyone would be interested in going to Lake Dorothy or Snoqualmie Lake the weekend prior to the 4th of July through that week it's a shot in the dark but it's always more fun to have someone with you when you're hiking around if interested contact me at Wade David Lucas at gmail.com wish me luck
thanks john, time is the issue for everyone . I am looking at a handful of fri-sat- sun trips in august if you can spare the time, high country lakes and a trip up the upper Baker river
Okay. I'm out on Orcas island. I have to confess my fly fishing skills havnt amounted to much. I bought a 6 piece (mistake) fly rod and can't do much with it. My favorite way to "fly " fish is to use a pack raft and drag a fly around. If you are on Fb drop me a request at wade Lucas
You didn't necessarily make a mistake with a 6 piece. Sometimes rods lose some feel and sensitivity with 6 pieces, but they can be done right. floating around dragging a fly, if it's the right fly, can be deadly on alpine lakes! I fished one even from the bank without a float tube at the end of long hike and was just stripping a small black woolly bugger/ leech pattern and stopped fishing after 25 minutes because I caught 5 fish is supposed to be the limit. The speed and pattern of your retrieve make a big difference. I can meet up to fish a lake sometime. I'm not an expert at it, but I did watch a few Brian Chan videos on YouTube before going. He is THE lake fly fishing guru. Watch a few, learned a ton.
Thanks for the tip. I'll check out Brian. I use gink, something I've used as a kid but want to get into some real fly fishing, we live in such a great place. I'll be heading up to Dorothy, Bear, Deer and Snoqualmie lakes and I will surely report back what the fishing is like there.
