As of this evening the lower 44 miles of the Deschutes has been put on a Level 3 evacuation status. Level 3 is “Go Now.” This is due to the Substation wildfire that ignited yesterday and made an 18-mile run by this morning. Though it started well west of the river It is burning on both sides of the river now and threatening the town of Moro.

If you have a trip planned, you may want to check things out before you start driving.

And today it was announced that the fire is “...of incindary origin....”. Tens of thousands of acres of wheat destroyed, and one fatality thus far.

Is that PC speak for a cigarette butt flicked out a car window? The one fatality is very sad. It was a farmer in his tractor trying to make a fire break.

Damn, sorry to hear a guy lost his life trying to stop this fire.
I most cases a brush fire is a good thing, for the wild life and to renew the grasses, remove the old brush.
But the lose of life and property, not good.
