SBS Royal Wulff Hackle Stacker

A few changes to one I found on the interweb; swapped out golden pheasant tippet tail with moose body for a bit more floatation. A calf tail wing for those who prefer to tie on the natch.

hook – Dai Riki 300 #10
thread - Danville 6/0 red
tail - moose body hair
body - peacock herl/red thread mid-section
loop - UTC 140 red
hackle - grizzly/brown (undersized by 1)
wing - Congo Hair white

Mash barb, start thread at 3/4 mark

Tie in a hank of CH; trim butts, cover with thread, wrap to bend

Clean, stack, measure (shank length) a small clump of moose body hair; trim butts at junction with wing bump/tie in

Tie in peacock, wrap to hook point; tie off/trim

Create thread mid-band

Tie in loop

Tie in hackles, hook loop onto gallows

Wrap hackles up (distance to wing base), and back down; tie off at base/trim

Stroke hackle fibers back

Tie in peacock, wrap to wing base; tie off/trim

Pull hackle forward; tie off at base of wing, trim

Pull wing up, set angle with thread wraps

Whip finish, SHHAN

Trim wing
