Daniel's Coachman (Bomber variation)

Making the original suitable for rougher water. Calftail wing would be more traditional but I was looking to keep the tie-down area slimmer.

hook – Dai Riki 125 #10
thread - MFC 8/0 brown
tail - moose body hair
abdomen - peacock herl/Uni-Stretch red
wing - deer hair white
hackle - brown

Mash barb, start thread one eye width from eye

Clean, stack, measure (hook length) a clump of deer hair; trim, tie in with 2 soft loops (spin bobbin to tighten up the thread first), pull tight, keeping hair on top with pinch, set angle with wraps in front, then wrap to bend

Clean, stack, measure (shank length) a clump of moose body hair; tie in, trim at junction with wing butts

Tie in peacock on top and Uni-Stretch on the bottom

Take a few wraps of peacock over the Uni-Stretch

Capture peacock with Uni, wrap forward (eyeball width, guesstimating division into 3 segments)

Repeat weaving sequence

And again; finish off with peacock, tie off/trim

Tie in hackle

Wrap hackle, tie off/trim, half hitch x 2, SHHAN

Regards,
Scott
