Trapper, I like the looks of that snowblower! If I planned to be here next winter I would look into one. My driveway is two sections-the short uphill pull to the top of the landing that is in shade until late March and then the long downhill section that eventually narrows down. The previous UPS driver would come right to the house all winter and only complained when both side of his truck were rubbing the berms. The new guy leaves stuff at the neighbors.

The short steep section can only be pushed downhill and like you-it has a bank on one side making things more difficult. I notice that you have trees very close to the side of your road that probably prevent moving snow very far to that side. I had the same thing when I moved here but eventually took down over 100 trees to open up the road and provide more room for the snow.

Here's some pics from this morning. As you can see there isn't much snowpack this year, maybe only 18 inches on the ground but up to 10'' is projected in the next two days. I'll deal with it when it gets here or just call for help.
Very nice looking place!

I've removed about 50 mature trees along my road and another several thousand MPB killed ponderosas from my property. I can redirect the discharge chute of the blower while moving so if a tree is too close to the road I can just blow snow either side of it.

My UPS guy would just send me an email and I had to drive into town to pick up the package. Jerry D. explained this was as per UPS policy. So far this year he's never failed to deliver a package and commented how much better it was for him that I kept my road wide open.

The other nice thing about the blower on the rear of the tractor is I'm moving snow ahead of where my tractor tires are trying to get traction. That translates to me being able to move snow up the hill as well as down. I did that with the blade to some degree but the blower auger is always trying to pull me and the friction of the snow while blading tended to resist my momentum. Trying to push snow uphill didn't work without chains. Blowing snow while moving uphill is easy.

I have neighbors down the road and out in the open sage who get lots of deep drifts when it's windy and snowing. Their roads are 100 - 400 yards long. Do you have an idea about what I should charge to clear their roads?

I'm not sure just what you would be dealing with but think that perhaps $60 for the first hour and $30 for any hour after that would be a starting point. Considering that you have thousands of dollars invested in your equipment and they have virtually none it sounds reasonable to me-if maybe a little low.

Snowing again, but the drifts have been cleared off my roof. I fear some folks around here are going to regret not doing/having that done. On my way to the bank, I saw houses with drifts that even dwarfed mine.

I talked to one of my neighbors just now and he thought $75 was fair. And if it ran into hour 2 we'd rate it in 15 minute increments. But, yes, between the tractor and the blower, it's a big investment. I think of it as cheaper than grinding my arthritic joints though. : - )

I wouldn't do it for less than 75 per hour, one-hour minimum.

Its getting to be some kind of 'sner ma gerd' type accumulations out there, with 6 inches so far today....and as someone who loves snowfall and snowstorms it's awesome.

It's also over 2 fuking feet deep and I'm guessing as the Canal loses the cold air later than most places in these events I may be looking at another foot, or more....

Glad I went to the liquor store......really paying off in a big way.

We left the house today for the first time since Friday. My wife and I took my truck up to the casino, mostly so I could get out of the house for a bit. We were there maybe an hour and when we came out it was dumping and had probably 3" of fresh. So we ran up to Albertsons and my wife ran in and stocked up on a few things we were getting low on. The drive home was interesting for sure. I was glad we were in my truck and I was driving. My truck does fine in the snow and I have no problem driving in it, but my wife hates it and starts to panic.

Made it home no problem. Looks like it just stopped snowing, hopefully it stays that way. I have my first physical therapy appointment in the morning and really don't want to miss that.

North Kitsap schools and the shipyard are already closed tomorrow. My wife and son are enjoying the bonus time off. It's kinda good timing for my wife. She was planning to take this week off anyway to help me post surgery, so with these snow days she gets to keep her sick leave.
