Started a two week steelhead trip in the OP sampling several rivers around Forks today. Water is very low. We need some rain. Put the Skagit rod down and played with my single hand rod with a 30 ft. shooting head to get down deep in a fast slot behind an underwater rock that was causing considerable surface disturbance. Rewarded by a chrome bright steelhead that stayed airborne the whole time. Can not believe how strong these coastal fish are. Thought I had him, but he jumped one last time doing that head to tail twist thing after coming all the way back up river and self released a black wooly bugger.
