Deep Purple, Perfect Strangers tour Tacoma dome 1985. It was mid week and my sister took me, got plastered on cheep vodka had the worst hangover ever. Luckily I was suspended from school so got to sleep in, haha.
I did windowpane and orange sunshine a lot so I really do not remember my first but I went a lot it was the effing 70's tickets were like $4...plus you got to meet a bunch of people sleeping on the sidewalk waiting for the ticket booth to open...Cool! They weren't homeless , just dedicated.
I was about seven when my family went to a concert night at the Montana State Fair in Billings. Circa 1983. Saw the Statler Brothers opening for Roy Clark.
First concert I chose to go to was Warrant and Poison, circa 1991. Unfortunately (at the time, but thankfully, in retrospect), mom wouldn't let us go, so I had to sell my ticket.
When I was twenty-three, I went to my first real concert since Roy, Flogging Molly at the Brick Breeden Fieldhouse. Biggest crowd I've ever seen music in. Won't go to anything that big ever again.
Was at the Tractor for Dave Alvin on Monday. I pretty much go to see him there every year.
I was a little late to the actual going to concerts thing, but my first real concert was one of the early Portland Rockfests where STP headlined (they actually played pretty well), but also Slayer, Slipknot, Mudvayne, (hed)p.e., & Sevendust were higlights...
I have a lot of ones that I really liked, but when I saw Volbeat (I had never heard of them) open for one of many Metallica shows that I've been to, that ranks right up there.
Jimi Hendrix Experience, either 1968 or 69. It was all down hill from there...
Not really, The Who on their Tommy tour, any of several concerts by the Band, and the Rolling Stones in 1972 on their Exile on Main Street tour - that was probably the best concert I ever went to.
D
Ohh man, mine was in 1998. The Obsolete Tour at The Boathouse in Norfolk, VA. I remember Rob Zombie, Static-X, Monster Magnet, and a few others. Sadly, the venue was wiped out by a hurricane in 2003.
Okay best concerts ...between two and very different. DSOTM 1974 quad sound June tabor in an intimate venue a capella...I tried to hide my tears but it was so beautiful ...and th3e 3 times I saw Norton Buffalo...my god the place hopped , everyone was dancing...the harmonica, that choral wonder of an arsenal of this simple instrament(spllg?),,,Yeah well I will never forget.
I was 6. My Parents went to the USF Sundome In Tampa and brought me along to see George Straight.
Last Concert Was MGMT In Seattle. My buddy Does Front of house (Main Sound Guy) For them. It was fun.
I Worked in lighting over a Decade though. I've Lit Lionel Richie, 38 special, Robin Thicke, Electric light orchestra, the temptations, Flaming lips, Paul Anka, Ryan Adams, Josh Groban, Tony Bennett, Randy Travis, I could keep going. I'd rather go to a concert Than Set one up anymore. So I do set carpentry for museum exhibits usually. I think one of my most memorable concerts I attended would be The Rolling stones in 2005.
I really can't recall my first for some reason...but i did see Yes 3 times in the 70's , Gentle Giant, Black Sabbath early a few times...a bunch of others I refuse to think too hard about...murky memories...
Edgar Winter, or maybe it the Eagles with Rita Coolidge (and Chris Christopherson - dude couldn’t sing!) opening for them.
I Can’t remember which.
Took our Jr. high age son and daughter to see CS & N at the winery in Woodinville years ago. Seats right up front on the lawn.
That was definitely the best time I ever had at a concert.
In 1965 at fourteen my cousin took me to the London Palladium to a Rolling Stones Concert, supported by, the Moody Blues, and Steam Packet ( Rod Stewart, and Long John Baldry ). what a night. 4 years later selling ice creams at the Guilford county show, my next customers were the stones, assorted famous music faces from the sixties, and (wags). did my prices go up, you bet. I got my satisfaction. steve.
I still fondly remember my first Glenn Miller concert. Those were the days!
