Yes, I'm pretty sure it is bear scat. We have quite a number of black bear around these parts and I've seen that kind'a poop before. The bits and pieces of berries is a good clue.
I don't have any berries that big on my land, nor have I seen a berry with that type of skin. I found this about 20 feet from my front door. At first I though it was farm raised steelhead that got too much dye.
Bear scat can be determined definitively through its consistency, if you can easily squeeze it through your fingers then you'll know it's not from a bear.....
Tough to say. Like Rob said usually in bigger piles. Up here in the fall, like it is now, the piles we see are dinner plate size built up about 8 inches. Chauk full of berries. With temps supposed to be in the -20C for lows by Tuesday night they just might go to bed for the winter.
My thought was raccoon as well, just based on the small size.
At my previous house I had a couple ornamental plum trees, that would still throw a crop of small cherry sized plums every once in a while. There was a raccoon that would go up in the tree and gorge himself on the little plums, pits and all, and then retire for the night to my woodshed. Once he established himself at the top of the stack, he would then proceed to shit himself, no doubt due to the massive amount of fruit he'd just eaten.
The stuff I had to clean off my firewood looked a lot like what's in your picture.
Here's a nice sample/example deposited in the front drive a few years ago.
From another angle...
And here's the perpetrator... had to scare him away with a firecracker after a few too many visits outside our front door.
Took the picture from the kitchen window.
I'd say yes and it can look different thru the season as the available forage changes.
Yesterday I was cutting wood at my property north of Usk and ran across this as well as some older piles.
Not sure if I've ever seen racoon scat as we do not have many in Alberta....yet but I would say its coyote which I see a lot of complete with berries at this time of year.......
