Has anyone ever used the feathers for fly tying? I am feeding quail and the doves join in the free lunch line every day. I was thinking of using an air rifle to collect and possibly dye their feathers.

I have killed some (collared) doves while hunting quail and they were very good eating.
If you have a hunting lic. you can hunt them year round.
They have a very dry feather and the dogs did not like to pick them up.
I think they would work just fine as a soft hackle
