Did anyone come up missing a couple of folding tables after the fling? There were two left at the park and Kent picked them up.
I was one of the last to leave and didn't see any tables. Bonsai too.

I loved casting everything I tried and discussing tapers. I have some ideas in mind, and see adding a few more bamboo rods into my collection in the next few years.

Thank you Mark for the lunch, beer and everyone who contributed towards it. Looking forward to next year, or sooner. I will contact some of you with questions and am open to fish with guys anytime!

I didn't leave any folding tables behind, so I am good. I hope I have enough forethought to have reels with lines on them match to the rods next year. I think I might order a blank or 2 from Dennis Stone in Oregon for next year. Any suggestions on tapers? I was hoping to go fishing at Lake Kokanee some time this week. Looks like I will have to put it off until next week. I will post the day and time as soon as I figure it out. Honey dues are a pain.

I built some rods from Dennis' own tapers, the 5 wt Cascade and 3 wt Gale Creek (he'll do any taper you want though).

The Cascade is a very versatile rod/taper, can handle big Deschutes and Lady M Redsides, I throw streamers and small dries with it.

I love the Gale Creek for small streams, wonderful little dry fly rod.

Dennis is a really good builder if you want a full build and really easy and great to work with. Also, from what I have seen from other "name" builders, his time to delivery is pretty darn good.

cheers

Dan asked for directions to Lake Kokanee so I will post them here:

These are the directions from the 101 and Hwy 5 intersection. It takes about 45 minutes from there.
The parking is on the south end of the lake close to the dam. The area around the launch area is shallow for the first 75 yards or so then it gets deep. The best fishing is up in the north end of the lake where it narrows.

Head northwest toward US-101 N - 0.2 mi

Continue onto US-101 N - 5.5 mi

Take the US-101 N exit toward Shelton/Port Angeles - 0.1 mi

Continue onto US-101 N - 28.9 mi

Turn left onto WA-119 N - 2.6 mi

Turn left onto Cushman-Potlatch Rd/Lower Lake Rd - 0.8 mi

Turn right onto Lower Lake Rd _ can't miss the parking lot.

His blanks are really nice. I had simply told him what I was planning on fishing for and how, and he came up with his own suggestion. It's a great 4 wt that handles both dries and nymphs well. If we meet up, I can bring it with me for you to try.

I am planning to fish Lake Kokanee Friday. I plan to get there between 8:30 and 9:00 AM. I will have my red Ford pickup and my pram is blue. Hope to see one or a few of you guys there.

Yeah, it's a beautiful little stream. I just hope the heat and smoke don't drive us back home. It's supposed to cool down on Sunday and the rest of the week. Cool down is relative. It's supposed to be in the 80s.

Hopefully its mostly smoke free. There is a large fire burning adjacent to the Lolo Pass but driving east (up) the Lochsa last weekend was mostly clear as the smoke seemed to be heading north and east from there.

I have decided not to go fishing at Lake Kokanee tomorrow, it's going to be to damn hot to be sitting in a pram in the middle of a lake with no shade. Will try to go Monday, hopefully it will be cooler.

I turned up with Treefrog to try out some rods. I'm more of a 'plastic' guy but some of the rods were a lot of fun to cast and of course it is always nice to meet some fellow anglers and learn about new things. The standout for me was the parabolic taper from Mike where the rod has an extra 'bump' just as you're finishing off the cast @~11 o'clock, it was an odd but cool feature. Also managed not to break Doug's hollow Winston and a couple of his beefier rods could, all throw a surprisingly long line. My thanks to those who organized it and to those shared their amazing arsenal of sticks, finally to Mark who knocked up some tasty tacos for lunch.

I just got back from five days to an an out of the way place with minimal cell coverage. I confess that it was I who left (forgot) two 4’ long gray plastic topped folding tables leaning against a tree at the park. I’d loaded all my rods into the truck and then got to yakking about fishing with Jerry and Bill. So that’s my feeble excuse.
Thanks so much for alerting me about them, and please tell me where/when I can come and get them out of your way.
