Another simple but cool design from Swedish tyer Thomas Roos. I hackled the body a bit heavier than the example I saw on the interweb.

thread - MFC 8/0 sand
rib - x-small wire silver
body - Ice Dub hare’s ear
hackle - grizzly (undersized by 2 here)
wing - Congo Hair shiner tan

Start thread at eye; tie in rib, wrap to bend

Being land born, it won’t skitter so much as thrash around. Partridge or hen pheasant would make a nice collar, too.

hook - Daiichi 1170 #12
thread - Veevus 8/0 tan
rib - x-small wire gold
body - dubbing cream
hackle - barred cream (undersized by 2 here)
collar - sharptail grouse
wing - Congo Hair tan

Regards,
Scott

After looking at some other pics of the fly, it looks like I screwed the pooch on the first attempt. Playing around with a different tying sequence, I think this one is a bit closer to the original; forgot to photograph the steps, though.

hook - Daiichi 1170 #12
thread - Uni 8/0 rusty dun
rib - x-small wire silver
abdomen - dubbing hare’s ear
hackle - grizzly (undersized by 2 here)
thorax - Ice Dub hare’s ear
collar - partridge
wing - Congo Hair shiner tan

Regards,
Scott
