I don't have a clip, but will tie with a dubbing spinner. Also, I will use Swiss Straw which I use for adult Damsel flies instead of the Raffeta as it looks exactly like what I have. Does seem like an easy tie that will be a generic fly which is also good for Dragon flies
I finally got around to tying up a few. First though I want to off apologies to Barry Clarke for screwing up his great tie.
I did make a few changes. First, I used a 14/3x as the base 14 I tried first did not seem to have the right "geometry" to me. Second, I used Swiss Straw for the wings instead of Raffeta. I don't have any Raffeta and what I used seems very similar. The biggest alteration I made was not to use CDC for dubbing. I used pulled Australian Opossum instead. It is a light/soft dubbing and as I don't like working with CDC (I will if I must) this seemed a good substitute.
I am going down from where I live in NH to CT later this week to fish the Farmington River. It is one of the few tail waters in New England and productively managed all year.
I know the pics are not the best, but I could nothing more with my cell phone

I would recommend sticking to the recipe for this pattern. Swiss straw and raffia are usually the same material. Pull the material apart to reveal layers rolled or folded over. This pattern requires a thin single layer. CDC is a floating material, australian possum is not a floating material. I would substitute standard hackle or maybe deer hair....IF I had to substitute. Fly tying is like cooking, so substituting ingredients can be tricky. Having said that I guess you could slather floatant on your version and get it to float long enough for a Farmington brown to rise to it.
Used them last few days. Did not catch fish with them (tiny emergers where the key), but fly floated fine. I did use some floatant, but all was good. If I tie again, I will hackle them instead of dubbing as it appeals to my general laziness about tying. Tie and see if it works. I don't tie for shadow box.
As for exact ties, it is my experience that the fish don't care as long as it looks "good enough"
