The big Pteronarcys "Salmon Fly" stoneflies are disappearing on the Yellowstone. Too much irrigation pesticide and warm water perhaps. The Goldenstones are a bit more resilient. The big ones are vegetarians. The Goldens are carnivores.
The females are about 1-1/4" inches long. The males about 1" inch long.
This one's a big female. I think.
