Trip Report Eastern Idaho Lake Trip

I spent 3 days fishing a well known lake near the border with Montana.

The lake is large and it took a while to figure things out. I’m glad we were there for 3 days. By the 3rd day we were dialed in and did extremely well.

Most of the fish were caught in 4’- 6’ of water (except one that you’ll see at the end of this post. It was caught in 11’ of water)).

Small leech patterns fished on floating lines caught most of the fish.
Here are some well chewed on successful flies-

We caught brook trout, cutthroat and cutthroat rainbow hybrids.

And the fish of the trip my friend caught. Almost 27”.

It was a fun trip and I’ll be back!

To fish or not to fish? What a stupid question.
Leaving tomorrow for tHat lake. Annual two week trip. Love the hybrids and the occasional big brookie. Any particular area of the lake better for you that you would share?
Nice report!!
