Preferred hooks for smaller chironomids?

One more photo for reference. After Hollister scored the second TD for the hawks I poured another Jubelale and tied a couple on Dai Riki 135 #18’s. They feel much smaller than the Hanaks. The scud hook shape doesn’t work with my 2.0mm beads.

Thanks for this--that's a helpful comparison. I wish the Hanaks were straight-eyed, but that's still a pretty decent gap.

Top Maruto c40HW size 18

Bottom Firehole 718 size 18
I like the shank length on the Maruto better than the Firehole but the Firehole comes barbless and the gap is larger. I like both hooks.
