ASB chironomids

Curious where you found the ash strips.

My only ASB bag is of a plastic thickness that makes a stiff material, too stiff for me when wrapping

Perhaps you and @Wayne Kohan might want to see if you can find a different ASB bag. I'm able to stretch the strips I cut and tie onto size 16 hooks and get good tight wraps with the material. I guess not all ASB bags are created equal. Good luck. (Or get what dbk is using.)

J - I got an email from Togen's with a video link for tying an ASB pattern, the ASB was from a sheet of pre-sliced ASB bag and it was called ASB Cape. I don't think Togen's is selling the capes but here's link where you can get it: https://flyguys.net/store/fly-tying-materials/anti-static-bag-asb-fly-tying-capes If you do buy it, let the forum know what you think, eh!

It may be possible to separate the stiff layer from tinted layer on some kinds of ASB.
Try to catch a corner and peel the two sides apart.

I’m gonna second the HB creations sliced asb and window tint. The bronze tint is amazing. It looks really similar to asb and feels a little easier to wrap. The gray window tint is super dark though. The bottom one has a white thread body and it still came out black.

No affiliation with the company - just received some window tint and ASB from HB Creations in Prince George. Great price and lots of product for what you pay. Good selection of sizes for using them like a rib, e.g. 0.5 and 0.75 mm, or larger to cover the whole body of the fly.

I was beyond impressed with the smaller sizes and the accuracy of their cutter. The smallest I went was .75mm and its perfect for ribbing a size 14 Daiichi 1760. I bet a .5 would be perfect for ribbing on a size 16.

Hi guys glad to see you are enjoying the precut ASB and window tints from us at HB Creations. We want to thank everyone who has supported this venture my wife and I have started. We will have some olive as well as some brown window tint in the next week or so. This will be in addition to our ASB, 35% grey 20% grey, bronze and chameleon window tints. These are cut in 0.5mm, 0.75mm, 1.0mm and 1.5mm sizes. The 0.5mm works well on #18 togen nymph hooks while 0.75mm is the perfect size for #16 togen nymph hooks. 1.0mm looks great on #14- 12 togen nymph hooks and finally for #10-8 togen nymph hooks the 1.5mm is the bomb. For those of you not on face book feel free to email your orders to [email protected]. All of our cut sheets are 2 for $10 plus$2 shipping(no matter how many sheets) We accept Paypal only. Venmo doesn't work for canadian transactions, sorry.

We have had great luck with our shipments to the USA with some shipments to Washington state in 5 days, Southern California in 8 days. Please understand the postal service can be hit and miss for delivery time during covid.

Thanks again and tight lines,
Brian Barby
