Bought this reel about 40-45 years ago as a kid in Moses Lake at some type of gas station/bait shop on drive across the state. Didn't take long for me to lose the screw to hold the white plastic spool in (and I seem to have lost the spool now as well).

The reel itself was lost on and off for the past 40 years until today. I am not even sure it is a fly reel? Thought it was when I bought it. Lost a gear and has a broken handle. No inscriptions.

Size comparison next to my old CFO 1 reel.

Any ideas?

Looks like a center pin reel. No idea on what brand it is, could be stamped somewhere on it, although I assume you would have mentioned, if it did.

I believe it was built by Herb Butler Engineering in Spokane. It was built in the 70's
Thanks so much! Will point research in that direction and add back!

You are perfectly on-thank you, mystery is solved

Looks like I need to get some parts fabricated and look for the spool.
