Trip Report Smells like campfire, heading downriver

After seeing many fire rigs in Dayton I came across a direction board at the top of the hill indicating where to go.

Smells like campfire. The view south to the headwaters and the fires.

As I headed downriver in the direction of Starbuck I came across a bunch of wildlife like these ones with horns

And the turkeys. Have I mentioned I hate turkeys, These folks were watering the cut field for fire break/protection.

I've enjoyed the alpine and the climbing posts. I just don't think I'm up to it any more. This river is about as tough as I do. Once your in, your in. Your not getting out until your planned escape point.

Fished a brace of the flies I tied yesterday

It's nice that while the water is being put to another good use

I can still fish

Of course in some of the more natural locations

below a riffle lined with these

I found better ones

And we even got some on and off rain sprinkles with no apperant lighting or thunder.

How do you like that new Hardy Marquis?
Looking for a new lake reel with several spools. I have some Korean Marquis, not a big fan.

It's quite smooth. The outgoing sound with a fish in the current is somewhere between my cortland and cfo, incomming really sounds and feels goods, pleasing. And the finish is impecable. Weight is a touch more than the cortland and actually balances this rod well. Not a huge range of drag adjustment, but I don't need alot, antibacklash + a little more.

Love your reports Tom. My parents retired in Touchet about 15 yrs ago and I’m over at least a few times a year. I’ll send a PM next time I’m over there maybe we can fish some small water together- I have a spot I’m sure you know of that I love to fish.

Mighty metropolis. Good bass fishing but I don't care for mud. That sounds good.
