Swap Deer Hair Streamer Swap

Anyone want to do a streamer swap that somehow incorporates deer hair. Spring is coming soon and those bows will be in spawning mode ready to hit a big ol' streamer. I am a big fan of Kelly Galloup's flies and techniques and a lot of his flies have deer hair of some sort in them. Plenty of options to create a streamer from deer, bucktails, collar and heads, spinning, etc. Whatever you choose as long as it has deer. The fly could be one of your own creations or one that is known.

Looking for maybe up to 10 participants or maybe more if needed.

Weather is terrible, at least over here on the eastside, might as well fill up that fly box with some meaty flies!! I am thinking of the due date to be March 8 or sooner if everyone can agree to an earlier date.

First timer for hosting a swap but knows how it works and I will check daily on the progress of the swap.

Come on and join people. I know working with deer hair can be intimidating to some people so if you have little experience working with it you should join and gain some experience. This swap is for tyers of all skill type.

Cameron - unknown
Jason - Wooly Sculpin
WPEB - Kiwi muddler

We need plenty more tyers!

Well I guess I will give this swap a few more days and see if we can't get anymore tyers otherwise I will just cancel the swap due to lack of interest.

Well we can either cancel this swap due to lack of interest or I was thinking maybe we could do 2 patterns each. What do you guys think?

I'm up for a double if everyone else is. It is depressing when a guy can't get a swap started. I think a lot of folks are set off by the fact that you are fairly new. Usually its the big names that get the big swaps going. Good luck.

I'm up for two patterns. After tying a half dozen Green Highlanders, I can whip these eight streamers in the time it takes to tie on highlander.

Alright well we are set then, 2 streamers per person. Everyone alright with March 8 as due date? I am gonna start workin on them tonight. I'll stick with the Woolly Sculpin and probably some other sculpin imitation pattern. I am glad we could make this swap work with so few participants, start your tyin and lets see if we can get it done before March 8. :beer2:

The only deer hair streamer I use for trout is the muddler. Other than that they are all in my bass box. These kill bass like no other. I found that if they are over dressed the spinyrays have a tendency to refuse them. I use just 2 strands of crystal flash and that seems to do the trick. One gentleman was telling me swinging these flies did good on Rufus Woods for trout too.
