Oh for heavens sake. Our President, like him or not, went on a business trip for our nation and hoping to improve relationships with other world leaders and nations. At the end of his trip, travelling alone, he opted to have his family join him. I'm not supporting him over other candidates, but could it be possible that such a role is stressful? When stressed what do you do? Something you like surrounded by those nearest to you. This thread and the Cheney thread are out of freaking control.

How about a simple thank you for your service of leadership. Like what they did/are doing or not they are the ones with the testicular fortitude to take that leadership role. Is that a trait that those bashing the Dems or Repubs have? I remember the names on most of my recent ballots and so far no names on this board remind me of any that could have gotten my vote.

Yawn, who's fishing this weekend?

Ed and Dnelson, relax guys.:D My original point with Europe was to point out that stuff like that may happen elsewhere around the world and is considered normal, but it is not supposed to happen here. I'm aware that it does though, hence how this thread was started. :D Ok, here comes more smartassness (warning):D You guys should get a refund from the school you got your degrees from:D North America has three countries on it (that I am aware of), yes I provided a map:D My point in bringing that up was simply a smartass answer to Dnelsons comment on Europe (no harm or insult was intended). Here are some links, if folks are interested, instead of me putting it up on the thread (it is kinda off topic).

The map of north America and it's countries:

Here is the Constitution, where it never says that a State may not succeed. It also list the States rights and gaurentees:

Here is the definitions of a Nation, State, and Country:

Here is a History Channel board and another site about how none of the Confederate leaders were tried for treason, hence leading to the assumption that a state does have the right to succeed, but the Fed will fight you if you try.:

Another thing that entered my head; was how much does it cost "us" for these guys to go fishing or whatever. I mean they have to not only go fishing with a truckload of Secret Service guys and gals (SS:eek::D), but also have an escort of local law enforcment sweep the area and maintain an outer parameter. I'm just curious as to how much that cost. Also, isn't most of the places they go fishing at on "public" land? If so I want the SS to clear out a patch of open water for me to fish on this Humpy run:D

Ya gotta love political discussions; so much exerted emotion in an attempt to shame someone for their views, with the intention of changing their dogma. You'll never change someone's political opinions by pointing out how fucked up they are for having a point of view that conflicts with yours. Yet another ongoing reason to have an off topic forum where people can unload their pent up, internal dysfunctional bullshit. :thumb:

You are a hypocrite Sullivan. You only hate the threads that bash liberals like yourself. Obama is has done more to damage this country in 5 months than Cheney has ever done.

There is nothing more pathetic than class envy. People like Obama have always need simple minded, unthinking people who feel and not think to get away with what they are trying to do.

I suspect this thread is a snapshot of Obama supporters. "Those according to their needs. Those according to their means." I suspect you people will take more from this country, then you will ever give. I would take one Dick Cheney over a thousand of your types.
What a bunch of BS... The Bush / Cheney era will take much longer to recover from than even Obama will be in office (hopefully 8 years)! Just the damage to foreign relations, the economy and getting out of Iraq... Obama has done more in his 5 months to improve this country than the horrible previous administration's policies and attitudes! Not bashing you personally, but I get so tired of hearing this argument.

Yawn, who's fishing this weekend?
I'll be fishing a bit this morning and tomorrow, at the respective day on the waters Saturday and Sunday! Gotta practice casting my 15' spey for the casting competition next weekend.

I don't care who you are...that's some funny chit right there!
Does it also outline what is considered successful?
I'm assuming you are refering to the succeeding part? If I'm correct, I think the "Civil War" outlined what happens very clearly when big brother doesn't get his way:D Just my opinion, maybe I would let Cheney or any other politician fish a body of water for that reaon alone, and not give them anylip about it. Who knows, if I do give lip about being kicked off a river, I might find my appartment serounded the next morning:eek:

Trent, your opinion or interpretation is interesting to read, but different than mine. My major hangup is you using SUCCEED and SUCCEESSION instead of what I believe to be the correct term cesseed or cession. Regardless, I hope your favorite waters are open and you are fishing them.

Thank you Preston. That was turning from amusing to embarrassing.

As for Obama's popularity... When you rob Peter to pay Paul, you can always count of the support of Paul. I just hope no one tells him what comes after a trillion.

I have held thee elective offices. I've been involved in local politics to one degree or another for the last 35 years. I have worked with liberals, conservatives, moderates, etc. Most politicians regardless of their political philosophy (and I know there are exceptions) are trying to seek the best for their county, city, state, or country. I may believe they are doing it all wrong but I respect them as people. I tend to be very conservative in some of my thinking, moderate in most of my political thinking and occasionally feel the liberals have some strong points that I can agree with. Some the remarks made on this thread about politicians are totally off the wall and inappropriate to say the least. Over the years some my best friends have been liberal politicians, which I strongly disagreed in some of their views yet because we were intelligent people with common sense we tried to see the others point of view and work with each other to resolve problems. There are many ways government can function and still rule and when we feel that our view is only view we show we are either extremely naive or stupid. Talk the issues, don't call politicians names and others names in a derogatory manner because most likely you don't have a clue what you are talking about. This spew of derogatory Cheney and Bush bashing has no place in a fly fishing site and neither does Obama bashing. Go find a political site and bash away if that is what your desire is, but be kind enough to spare us garbage. If I was the moderator on this site when these postings came along I delete them immediately because this is not what this site is all about. I'm all for free speech but lets keep this about fly fishing.

Yes, I’m aware that Europe is a continent of different countries; maybe I should have said that it is something that is more likely to be found in a European country. If you want to get technical, America is not one county either, even though citizens in the USA often say just that, “I’m an American citizen” and “I’m from America”, and so on. If you want to be more technical, the USA is actually a union between 50 united Sovereign Nation States. Each state has the power to levy war if the want, this guaranteed by the constitution, they also reserve the right to succeed from the union.:D

Sorry man, that's just inaccurate. Read Article 1, Sections 8 and 10.

Secede, secession, secessionist, etc., etc. etc. Don't any of you guys own, or know how to use, a dictionary?
Thank you Preston. That was turning from amusing to embarrassing.
Gents, although I will not contest your spelling of how one separates from another association or organization, my favorite courses by my favorite professor clearly suggests that you turn that copy of Webster's Dictionary into the pages that start with the letter C. Agreed, Succeed is closer to Secede. I'm just a bit more familiar with what seems to be a far less acceptable use of the word found much earlier in that dictionary that you mentioned. I'll close with this  to signify my embarassment as socially acceptable. I still think there is some amusement going around here.

After posting the above I reveiwed some of my history archives and websters to find that I am a poor excuse for a student and have little grasp of the English language. Thanks to Preston for stirring me up and causing me to go back to learn something all over again. My apologize to both Preston and riseform for suggesting that they were not considering all the options. That person was me, and I was a fool.
