Today I caught a decent sized bass on a black wooly bugger I have been catching a lot of bass in many lakes on wooly buggers all summer but this is only the second report doing great first summer of fly fishing only two

I agree with Ken. Give some topwater flies a try. You probably know this, but the trick with poppers with to let them sit for along time after you cast. When you just can't stand it any longer give it a sharp, short strip and then let it sit again. If you don't get any action proceed to strip it a few feet in short pops. The takes aren't subtle.
