Those are sweet rods! I built a 9' 6" 8-wt version of that rod in Jan 1989, and in March of that year it helped me land my first fly-caught steelhead, a 10 lb wild hen on the Sauk River. They are moderate-action rods, but with powerful butt sections for handling big fish. I should dig that old rod out, string it up, and put it through its paces, for old times sake. G Loomis discontinued the IM6 line when the GL3 line came out, but I heard that the GL3s were mostly IM6 graphite.

I'd say you have a keeper! String it up and go fishing!

Every nice rod in its day and still a good rod to fish.
The IM6 came out in the late 80's. I have 5 different wts of Loomis IM6 sticks and still enjoy fishing some of them.
I for sure would fish it.
