Turquoise J.H. Hale 3/0

#1
Finished this one today, been working on it on and off last week. Had to redo the the wings a couple of times but it worked out ok. The head ended up a little too big so I'm going to have to watch my thread raps more carefully. I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out and I'm even happy with the floss. Anyway, here's another one for your viewing pleasure?
I do like the light blues in this pattern.
Edit: I just noticed a couple of raps of hackle aren't tight to the rib.... have to fix that.

Wonderful work! Mark

I really like the color combination! the kingfisher blue are so elegant!
I wonder if this is a display fly only? or this is fishable? I always like the idea of fishing with the classic... :)

Thanks Mark, I'm glad you like it. I probably wouldn't fish most of these and the gut eyes aren't rigged for that but I use too fish a lot of pretty nice spey and Dee flies and a few full dress flies for steelhead but they were tied on standard eyed hooks. I seldom ever caught any steelhead so I didn't want to take the chance of loosing one on a bad gut eye, but that was a few years ago.

great to know Mark... I know a place will have a lot of hungry stripers will eat those colorful flies like sweet snacks... but it might be good to tie on tube fly style ... great stuff... your flies really make me want to learn how to do this.. :)
