I caught fish on my flies!!! YoooHooo!

Love vintage graphite!
Spent 3 days fishing on a small creek in central Oregon last week and caught fish on many of the flies that I tied.
Sunray Diawl Bach (Hans pattern)
Dyret (Hans pattern)
Grilled Ribeye (my creation)
Various soft hackles
The star of the show, however, was a Henry's Fork Caddis (tied commercially) that I fished during a prolific hatch. I will be tying these in the future!

Sure was fun to catch fish on my own ties!

born to work, forced to fish
Grilled Ribeye..... sounds like a meat and potatoes kind of fly. You should take pics and post them as I think lots would like to see them.

Was there any Chukar used in those patterns?

Love vintage graphite!
My only decent camera was recently stolen in a burglary so I can't get any good photos, but...
the grilled ribeye is:
Hackle...furnace hen cape
Rib...brown holographic tinsel
Body...3 pheasant tail fibers
I've been tying it on an Alec Jackson chironomid hook.

Old Man

Just an Old Man
I( used to tie flies. Some were good and some were bad. I've been thinking of doing it again but like I said I've been thinking about it. It's hard to pull the trigger on this subject. But only doing woven flies. These are simple to tie but It's been so long since I tied any, I probably forgot how to do them.

Teenage Entomologist

Gotta love the pteronarcys.
I met the owner of a fly shop on a hike, and since I'm a teen who is a pretty good fly tier and is setting up fly tying classes for free, he sent me something like almost $1000.00 worth of tying materials. I was stunned. I couldn't thank the guy enough. I started tying OK pheasant tails about 2 years ago, and now, I'm going to be selling to a shop in my home town, it just takes practice and time at the bench to get better at tying. Here's some of my own patterns I have invented, using steps I had thought of. image.jpg
