Excellent report Jim. Nice to finally put a face with a name in regards to Jim Wallace as well. Hell he's just a young buck ;).
I've only fished Crescent once now but it certainly won't be the last time.

Yes, that certainly is an interesting report! I am indebted to Jim Speaker for doing all that advance research before I arrived and making it easy for me.
I witnessed him hook and bring to hand a couple of pretty 12" to 14" Beardslees, while I remained skunked and without even a bite, before he pointed out a nice fish splashing the surface off the tip of a log.
"Where?" I hadn't seen it.
"Cast right over there!" (Jim pointing, posing as a guide).
I cast my flashy blue streamer right over there.
The trout followed my fly and took it, in spite of the fact that the flashy blue monstrosity that I concocted in haste the night before was far too bright, and should have spooked any trout in such clear water. The trout thrashed, showing its thick chrome sides, looking like a 17"er or so, but I didn't get a solid hook-up, and suddenly it was gone.
That was the ice-breaker I needed, though.
Ha! I never even noticed that Jim wasn't wearing rain pants until he had to go take his two layers of fleece off and wring them out. I had a spare set of rain pants in my car I could have loaned him, but at least it wasn't very cold. It was 50 F at 6am.

Trick photography Stonefish. Jim must have photoshopped that one. I'm feelin' really old right now, after paddling my local estuary today for 7 hours, with only a 20 minute break for lunch. I could have gone surfing instead, but that would have burnt me out after only two hours. Paddling and dragging a streamer gave me 5 extra hours of local motion! However, right now I'm feelin' nearly dead! Tomorrow I'm gonna be a zombie. What was I thinking?
I ran into some cutthroat today, but that is another story.

Good report. I was wondering that do I need Polaroid glasses to see the first picture of that trout in the net. All I could see was the blue colored water. LOL

Wonderful report and pics, Jim!

I've been intrigued with fishing Crescent for awhile now and the step-son and I are considering a trip in the next few weeks. It's not that bad a drive from Silverdale. We'd just be taking a 'toon and tube. Is the Fairholm CG reservation or drop-in?

First come first serve at Fairholm. My understanding is during peak season it fills fast particularly weekends.

And that's why we go during the week!

Thanks! :)
A front going thru during the week seems to offer many choices of camp sites there. There were only a few other sites occupied when I arrived last Wedn morning in the rain. I noticed more people showing up as the weather began to clear that afternoon.
