Nymphing for Salmon?

This will be my first year targeting salmon on the fly. I've been tying up some streamers for pinks and Coho but I'm thinking of patterns to use nymphing. I would assume it works considering floating jigs through runs does. Anyone have any patterns they would like to share. I tied some random little nymphs with a large flour. Orange bead and bright green body. Added some black rubber legs for kicks. Also tied some with purple beads and hot pink Estas sparkle braid for the body. Thoughts? Insight anyone?

Considering that pinks typically hit something that "jigs" through the water on the drop, I can't imagine that a dead drifted presentation would work all that well. In the past, I had little to no success running unweighted flies that stripped straight through the water. They seem to be really triggered by that fast drop of a jigging motion.
