This is probably a lame question, but I'm a noob at fly fishing. I went fishing yesterday, and saw that my fly line was not floating top surface, but rather about 4-6 inches below the surface. I'm going to assume the obvious, and that is my line needs to be replaced. Am I correct?

Need to replace 6wt floating line. Does not have to be top of line manufacturer but good condition required. Mostly freshwater application. No sharkskin. Thanks.
