The 2016 Tom Morgan award was awarded to Hoagy Carmichael for his outstanding contributions to bamboo rod making.

It was a wonderful presentation that included the reading of a letter from Tom to Hoagy followed by a touching recollection of his relationship with Everett Garrison and the making of the book, A Masters Guide to Building A Bamboo Fly Rod and its completely unexpected success and influence on the craft for the last 40 years.
It is now in its 8th printing.

We also had the opportunity to lawn cast 2 rods - a model 209E made by Mr. Garrison himself, and a model 212 that Hoagy made using Mr. Garrisons tools. The craftsmanship on these rods was exceptional, and was reflected in the smooth casting action of both rods. What a great experience!
