It is kind of surprising; redfish are usually pretty aggressive. Not stupid, but aggressive. The skinnier the water, the spookier they get, but sometimes you can slap them on the head with the fly and they will still eat. I assume you changed colors, fly sizes, retrieve speed, etc? Like any other fish what works one day will not work the next and you need to experience. If you only had 10-12 shots over a few days it's hard to experiment at all.

Oh, and I have never experienced any differences in cloudy vs. sunny weather. Although, saltwater fish often seem to be more barometer-dependent than freshwater fish.
