4/1 on Pass

It was a nice day. Poured rain till about 0830 then remained gloomy overcast till about 1500. Clouds broke free and we got some sunshine.

I got 6 fish into the net, including an 18" Brown caught on a chronomid. My first Brown ever! That's my second first this year. 3 were caught trolling around with an intermediate line and a olive, black woolly bugger. other 3 on chronomids. Had 4 LDRs. 1 rolled and spit. 2 broke off my tippet and 1 flatout straightened the hook to 90 degrees( weak wire hook I think)

All in all a great day!
Next up, Cady Lake. Any advice would be welcome.

Chronies work at Cady too. Emergers can be a hoot.

still haven't ever made it up to pass lake. would like to do that sometime. I have a pontoon....5wt with intermediate sinking line and a floating line, I can tie some chronies or some buggers.... anything else other than just showing up and making it happen? :)

If I were to just solely use woolly buggers, how long of a leader would be ideal?

I don't recognize either of those patterns. Could you upload a photo? Maybe in my fly box or something similar.

A 9ft leader is fine for the buggers but for chironomids you'll need 15-20 ft of leader. Start deep, just off bottom and creep it up till u find the zone. That's how I do it. Actually, on saturday there was a gentleman I was speaking with and I cannot remember his name and he is a member of this forum. He gave me the location of his spot and the depth to fish at and that's where I caught the 18" brown. Hope he reads this and likes or comments so I can give a proper thank you.
