Reported now at 7.9, South of Cordova. Only 6 miles deep, shallow earthquakes make big waves. First Tsunami Buoy registered a 30' water rise. Anchorage is getting hit right now, no word yet how bad. Washington coast should see it around 5:00 AM. No telling how bad until the next Buoy gets a reading off of Vancouver Islands around 4:00 AM. I know a lot of Steelhead fisherman camp at Mora campground which is only a mile from the ocean. I hope it's not as bad as initial reports and everyone is safe. Indonesia registered a 6.0 earlier and another one was just reported off of Hawaii. The ring of fire is active it's entire length.

It woke us up here in Anchorage. It seemed like it lasted for about a minute but I really don't know how long it was. We could tell it was big and it was scary. No damage anywhere as far as I know.

FYI: it's actually a combination of 2 Japanese names. TSU means harbour, NAMI means waves. Thankfully this wasn't a subduction event, which could have had disastrous results.
