This isn't a fly-fishing report, but it might be of interest. I've been doing quite well recently up at Rimrock lake, by White Pass. Rimrock is hard to fish, it always seems like the fish are hiding in the depths and most people never catch any but a few Kokanee. The internet says Rimrock has Rainbows, but what I've found over the last few years is that it has a good population of Cutthroats and Bull trout. Of course you can't keep Bull Trout here, but there are some good sized ones in there that are fun to catch.

I have found that in the late spring you can catch a lot of nice fish there, if you know where to go and what conditions to look for. With this weekend's heat the spring bite will probably be over soon. Yesterday the water was 55 degrees in the morning while it was only 49 the weekend before. I believe that the fish go deeper once it gets near 60.

I'm not going to give out any real secrets, but here is one of the biggest fish I caught there this year.

Just talk about the rocket launchers (toilets) beer cans, but never why you are there. Post a picture from Pike Market for the money shot. Or, last ocean trip (water, water, dog shark). Everyone gets pissed about that.

Man, things heat up fast!

To post a pic of gear fishing on a fly fish site is somewhat dubious. To post a pic violating state fishing laws is irresponsible at best. SMFH...
I sent this same suggestion to a guide/acquaintance last week. His clients proudly holding one of the many bull trout clear out of the saltwater.. His reply, super rude and basically told me to f#€k off! Oh well

Trolls love attention. The OP just has no clue of etiquette, or proper fishing techniques.

OP, you are killing fish by handling them the way your photo indicates. Bull trout are an endangered and protected species. They are endangered because our forefathers strung up fish they caught, photographed them, then threw the things away. Our world cannot survive such continued waste and destruction.

A key purpose of this forum is to encourage appropriate care of our recources, so your children can enjoy them also. Please learn to share and care for your recreation pleasure.

OP, and others here, I am new to Catch and Release, also. In my day we fished for food. But, hanging an animal so it's guts and gills are being ripped out by a treble hook, or even one, was and is crude.

A rainbow might survive such treatment. However, a bull trout does not have the same stamina, and why it is not a hatchery fish. You need to lean over the gunwale, use a net, and carefully remove the hook from a fish's mouth. We use barbless (debarbed) hooks to make the process easier. Keep the fish in the water.

A memory shot shows everything. More than you even thought. You will be known as a good sportsman when others see your photo representing C&R at its best. The next three fishermen to catch the fish will enjoy it as much, also.

Sorry, I am not good at this. Like the others my preference is to swing a club first. But, someone took the time to help me through the process. It's pay back time. Do grow and learn. Most importantly, pass on the good you know and have learned.
