A Little Report

Thanks guys ! It's a stupid simple pattern but whats cool about it is it looks so transparent in the water and lets the darker pink show through. I think that helps, but of course imo it's way more than what is needed to catch these little ho's.
I had to tie some more up so here's a little SBS for those who would like to try one.
Mark

Hook. #6 or 8 short shank saltwater (didn't seem to matter which size)
eyes, small black bead chain
Tail, Calf
Flash, whatever you got, I use just a couple strands of KF
Under body, anything pink or orange
Over body, UV2 scud shrimp Mysis White, (dubbing loop) I used this cause I have it at work, but it works perfect. you can use whatever you've got, brush it out well and trim.
Legs, a few KF or nothing at all.

Looking through fly tutorial pic's, I thought your fly looked good at picture 4. Do you feel if tying steps stopped with profile of fly looking like below, would that catch fish? Streamline profile of below fly looks very similar to stomach pumped shrimp. Finished fly does look better, but curious if below fly would be at least as effective?

As I was unable to fish 2016 for salmon I did a lot of research on UV materials. One of the thing I learned is that red is the first color to turn gray and even in clear clean water red turns gray at 30 feet. What was interesting to me is that the 30 does not have to be down from the suffice, it is additive so 20 feet down and 10 feet away red will appear to turns gray, because visable light can only go through so much water. But UV light can go through many more feet. There are many creatures in the sea that can turn on and off the light show. This is a squid that has just caught some food, and he's celebrating. I'm betting a Lingcod would love to see this.

Along the line of euphausid imitations, here's a pattern developed by the late Bob McLaughlin that has always worked well for me. The tail and antennae are pearl Krystalflash while the body is pearl Estaz. clipped on the sides and top and allowed to remain long on the bottom to represent legs. The eyes are (in this case) extra-small bead chain, though I usually tie it with plastic dumbbell eyes to fish more shallowly.
