Hi, I saw a link to your site on a flyfishing forum. The topic was sustainable steelhead. Although I was at first taken aback by the title, after researching your site, I really value what you are trying to do.
You should know however that net caught steelhead are not sustainable. In fact there is no such thing as a sustainable steelhead trout. Steelhead are a rare and highly-prized game fish, most anglers release their fish to swim again. Some hatcheries raise fish for release into the ocean and they eventually return to fresh water, but these fish actually harm the wild fish when they return to spawn and mix with wild populations. This is well documented in California, Oregon and Washington.
Please don’t sell steelhead on your site. Although as a novelty it may generate sales, not that many people will actually ask for it.
Choose a wild caught salmon- they are much more plentiful and sustainable, like fresh Alaska sockeye or coho salmon.
