Armed
I do 90% of my fishing solo. Over the years, finding new water to fish has lead me into many remote areas of North Idaho and Montana. The kind of places you fish with a backpack filled with all your gear to stay the night because the halfway point where you stop is no longer anywhere near anything.
I love this kind of fishing. It has not been without some "hair on end" moments. Those times that you just get the willies for no particular reason. You start paying attention to the shore out of the blue. Like you are expecting something.
I never had anything happen on those deeper trips, but I have had two crazy bull moose encounters I could have done without near roads. Real bad encounters.
This lead me to a Glock 20. It's with me now on my trips. And not just when I can take a couple of days to follow blue lines away from roads. But always (within state lines/rules/regs of course). Along with some bear mace hanging off of my chest pack strap off to my right side. Option one and option two.
I would never have thought I would go fly fishing armed 5 years ago. Yet, due to some furious running from bull moose, I do now go out armed. 6 hot rounds in front of 9 other 10mm rounds. Spray first, gun second.
I'm wondering if anyone else goes out armed?

This subject has been chalked out before and has not ended well. Usually with a lock.
