Keith Barton's Hairwing Dun variation; found this on the Singlebarbed blog
hook - Dai Riki 305 #14
thread - Uni 8/0 Rusty Dun
tail - hackle barred cream
body - turkey biot callibaetis tan
wing - deer hair
hackle - barred cream
mash barb, start thread, wrap to point above barb and create a thread bump

measure (shank length) some hackle fibers; tie in, jam against the thread bump to create/set tail angle, cover with thread (apologies for the thumbnail - priming cabinets; they'll be green later today)

tie in moistened biot, notch side down for ribbed effect

wrap to 2/3 mark; tie off/trim

clean, stack a clump of deer hair, tie in with tips extending over the eye, Quigley-like; take a few wraps in front to stand up the tips

stroke butts with vinyl cement

tie in hackle; wrap, tie off/trim, half hitch x 2, SHHAN

trim wing & head

(optional) trim out hackle underneath

go fish

Regards,
Scott
