I have been told there is special technique for fly fishing with bass? Can anyone shed some light on this for me, like do I need to use a different type of leader or something? I typically approach every situation with the same questions:
1-what am I fishing for?
2-where are the fish?
3-what will they eat?
4-how to present the fly?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks all-

1-Bass
2- Lakes and ponds, with smallmouth inhabiting some rivers and creeks.
3-Flies. Anything and everything will catch bass. Damsels and dragons work in the dry fly spectrum, streamers, poppers and mice imitations, crayfish and sculpin, a hook with rubber legs lashed to it.... you see the pattern.
4- As fast as you can strip it. Except on the days they want it slow .

Hope that answers all of your questions, you're welcome.

i've got a cabin on mason lake, and heard of good bass fishing. Its pretty much docks around the entire shore line. I have been able to catch some small LMB, max 5" on smaller bugger/leaches, when i change to a larger fly i get no action. Im fishing as close to docks as possible. Any tips on finding bigger fish?
