Sometimes when you trace the "little blue lines" high above known wild cutthroat waters you get lucky and they suddenly turn into small saucer shaped blue smudges.... a quick cross reference to Google Earth confirmed it.... beaver ponds.... lots of them.... about an hour on mountain roads led to 3 miles of logging roads and then 30 minutes of bushwalking and then I found this thing of beauty....

Water Plant Plant community Ecoregion Fluvial landforms of streams

And moments later I nabbed this thing of beauty....

Water Water resources Crocodilia Watercourse Lake

And promptly followed by this thing of beauty....

Water Plant Botany Organism Terrestrial plant

And then an alder tree snagged me and this happened:

Plant Tree Grass Terrestrial plant Grass family

Snapped directly above the third insert joint.... and of all days to leave behind the water bottle with the duct tape wrapped around it....

Fuck 3 weights....

Anyone else have any beaver pond anecdotals??

As always specific GPS coordinates to exact locales is very much appreciated....

Anyone carry rod splints when they fish these days?? I am going to start.... ST out

nice find....totally agree on the "don't tell anyone" bit....oh, and if you don't want to spring for the Steffen, but want something a little nice than the Cabelas, Lamiglas Honey 4wt is money.

Lamiglass Honey rods are not comparable to Steffen or Cabelas CGR IMO. They are much slower and not what I would recommend as a first glass rod. YMMV.
